Review of Break Even by Lisa DeJong

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet River Holtz and Marley Mason. What do you do when the one your with doesn't feel like they are there anymore. Marley is going through this with her husband Cole, he seems to be out of town more and more and he is breaking promises to her left and right. Marley is beginning to ask herself if the baby she wants is really something she should bring into a marriage like this. The other question she is asking herself is how long do you hold onto a marriage that feels more like a job than a relationship? While Marley is asking herself all of these questions she is stuck with a new client that she has to take care of because her husband is out of town none other than River Holtz. River has decided to open a new night club and needs a lawyer to help with the zoning problems he is having.

River is there about a new night club he is looking to open but one look at Marley and River is hoping for something else. He knows that Marley isn't one of those women who just cheats on her husband but River thinks if he plays his cards right he can spend more time with this amazing woman until her husband does the ultimate screw-up. All of his patients pays off when Marley's husband Cole blows her off for her birthday after making Marley make her own dinner arrangements. River thinks he isn't sure he can be the man that she deserves but man is he willing to try if she will just give him that shot.

This is an amazing it is about determining your worth and not taking anything less. I think these two characters are amazing because what you see isn't always what you get. We see some of Marley's hidden side from the get go of how she smiles while crying on the inside and wanting to ask for more but knowing she won't get it so why try. We also see in this book how though you might think you are fooling those around you, you might not be the actor you think you are. This book will hook you from the first word to the very end. This is a book that I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
