Review of Hooked by Iris Parker

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Emilia and Simon. Years ago Simon's dad married Emilia's mom. Emilia knew nothing about Simon until one summer he came to stay with them that summer changed them both. Simon was constantly picking and putting Emilia down made her feel insecure about herself and started ugly rumors that he thought would hurt her. Emilia was just looking to be nice to Simon but after that first summer she was more cautious and the after the second she wanted nothing to do with him. Now she is about to loose her rec center and at the last moment she gets a generous benefactor. Little does she know it is Simon and she doesn't know what he wants this time but in the 13 years since she last saw him she has never forgot the lessons he taught her about putting any kind of trust in him.

Simon knows he screwed up all those years ago with Emilia but he is back to get if nothing more her forgiveness. She is the one person he can not forget and will do anything to make it up to her including giving her money for the rec center and taking all the grief she will dish his way. There is something about her there has always been something about her that pulls in in and makes him want to be better for her.

This story is about love, forgiveness, and finding the way to let go of the past to make something meaningful in the future. This story has its twists and turns in it. It will draw you in and keep you hooked from beginning to the end. The only problem I had with this story is the journal like notes that the author adds in that are from Simon. They don't really make sense at times and you aren't sure if they are from Simon or Emilia. Over all it is a good story and I would recommend it.
